Aim

Become part of “Tears in Rain” - a futuristic concept photoshoot - inspired by Blade Runner (1982), and modern observations of AI

This conceptual photoshoot is an amalgamation of heavy inspirations I’ve had from Blade Runner (1982), 2001: A Space Odyssey (1961) , and personal observations from our modern cultural landscape.

MY ETHOS AS A PHOTOGRAPHER

I’m interested in making images that feel like they belong somewhere in between the world of photography and the world of cinema.

Across my personal concept projects, I typically articulate themes and concepts from
the films and TV that inspire me, and express them through my photography.

WHAT IS FEATURED IN THE SHOOT

The shoot will feature 3 models, playing as entities that appear “close to human” but alien-like in energy, being a play on the/conveying  the uncanny valley phenomenon so often seen in AI art. I’ll be shooting in the Barbican - the area of London that feels the most architecturally timeless. There will be 35mm film pictures and a short visual film of the shoot.

WHY I WANT TO SHOOT IT

I’ve been really attracted to this strange point in history we’re in.  How often the old and new, the vintage and the hyper-novelty are conjoined - and how both are constantly in clash with each other in our culture. Simultaneously, we’re in an age of being unable to differentiate between the human and the artificial, within the images, the art and information we consume.
It’s incredibly fascinating to me how these ideas had already been explored within Blade Runner (1982), 4 decades before our time. As Creative Director and Photographer on this project, I’m attempting to renew these same themes of artificial humanity through a modern homage. The point I’m making is that these ideas are timeless, and have been constantly evolving.

I’m aiming to submit the photo series to multiple photographer calls and exhibitions, but most focused on submitting to "PhotoVogue: Brave New Visions" - a global competition championing new photographers that showcase work with distinct visual storytelling.

If I’ve touched upon anything you’ve feel connected to, and would like to support a young photographer at the start of his journey, then become one of the first to believe in my work!
