Our aim is to inspire young girls across GB into STEM and globally raise awareness about this year’s competition theme of wildfires.
Each year a single robotics team from a school in Great Britain is sent to compete in a robotics competition on the global stage (against teams from over 190 countries). This year, five girls from the all-girls state school Folkestone School for Girls have been selected to represent the nation in South Korea in October to compete with their robot. The girls need your help to get them to the competition!
At the competition they will compete with their robot in the robot game, themed around extinguishing wildfires. They will also showcase their innovative design for an autonomous robot, designed to create fire breaks and stop wildfires spreading, that they have been designing with their local fire service. They will be building their first prototype for this robot over the summer break. This is an amazing achievement for a school who only founded their robotics club in 2024.
Not satisfied with the impact they are already having, the girls want to spearhead a robotics outreach programme for primary schools across the country, inspiring the next generation to tackle environmental challenges through robotics. They are creating robotics kits and lesson plans to show younger children how robotics can be used to solve real world issues and are also planning a girls STEM event in London.
Please show these inspiring girls that the community is behind them by giving what you can to fund their trip to South Korea to represent Great Britain, their robot propotype, and their outreach work here in the UK.
