Aim

To build a pump track in Temple Cloud, for people of any age with any type of wheels like roller skates, scooters, skateboards and BMX's.

Who are we?

Temple Cloud with Cameley Parish Council are a small parish council made up of 9 councillors and a qualified clerk. Our activities fall into three main categories: representing the local community, delivering services to meet local needs, and improving quality of life and community well-being.

The Parish Council represents members of the community to make all kinds of decisions on issues that affect the local community. Issues we get involved with are reviewing and commenting on planning matters, crime prevention matters, managing community spaces (the Village Green, Village Hall and Cameley Playing Field) and influencing the delivery of better services and facilities by representing the community regarding services provided by district council and local government such as public transport, roads and waste.

Community impact

A pump track in Temple Cloud will encourage new users to take up cycling and walking by providing a fun facility for cycling and other wheeled sports. The project is required to meet the need of under represented groups who have very few age appropriate facilities suitable for their recreational use and community social activity within the local area. The Council manages a playing field and playground for young children and we plan to add a pumptrack on this land to meet the needs and requests from diverse members of the community. The proposals will address local resident’s concerns about social isolation and antisocial behaviour due to boredom, isolation and absence of suitable age-appropriate facilities for under-represented groups. The pumptrack will provide challenge, adventure and play for all abilities and ages reducing antisocial behaviour – which benefits all residents. The latest developments in pumptrack design/build provide access for all ages/abilities and wheeled equipment. It rebuilds community engagement and trust between groups. It encourages cycling, walking, health and fitness and the take up of associated sporting activities.

Why are we crowdfunding?

We are crowdfunding to raise the final couple of thousand pounds needed to take the build forwards. Your donations will help cover the increase in costs we have incurred due to the changes in the UK economy. With prices rising the cost of materials increased, the short fall isn't huge as a lovely local business is helping us by providing he aggregate for free but to build the quality track that's the most appropriate size for the village we need a little help from you.

The goal is to encourage more people from a range of different backgrounds regardless of gender, age, ability or ethnicity to engage with cycling in all its forms. We're looking to involve all of the local and surrounding community in the use of the track which is safe, off road and most of the village can access without the need for a car.

We want this to be a free resource to encourage health and wellbeing through cycling and other small wheeled sports. Both for the current community and to provide a legacy for future generations.

How we’ll spend the money raised

The money raised will go towards the building of the track. Anything above our target we raise will be using to further enhance the areas around the track with benches and seating areas for parents and friends to gather, socialise and spectate.

How you can play your part

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

1. Make a pledge. Don’t delay if you’re going to support us because momentum is key to our success!

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. If you want to run your own fundraiser to support us, maybe a sponsored activity or similar, use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
