Aim
A family friendly volunteer group who meet up to tackle litter hotspots around Thornaby.
We want to make our community litter free, clean, and green.
We want to bring the community together. Doing good does you good.
We're proud of where we live and we are doing a 12 hour litterpickathon to raise money to buy equipment for our volunteers.
Every Sunday the group meet; volunteers of all ages including children, and tackle an area of Thornaby. The volunteers also litter pick in their own time throughout the week.
The group have been together for over 2 years and in that time it has grown in size. We now have over 50 regular volunteers and any money raised will be used to provide more equipment such as grabbers, gloves, hoops, waterproofs. If we make more money, we would also like to do more community events (we have done a few already), including planting seeds, wildflowers, paint for area makeovers. We would also like to visit schools and educate children about litter and the environment. We have been commended by our local fire brigade for litter picking as litter can make a fire worse. We would also like to buy prizes for our children volunteers.
This project successfully funded on 12th September 2021
