We're still collecting donations
On the 21st November 2022 we'd raised £10,070 with 61 supporters in 90 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We want to raise funds to improve and expand our zero waste store to help the community to shop smart by reducing plastic and food waste

On the 21st November 2022 we'd raised £10,070 with 61 supporters in 90 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
We want to create a website for the shop where customers can click and collect. This will give convenience to the customer even more.
We would like to buy a freezer to be able to expand even further with the frozen options for the customer.
We would love to buy a industrial dishwasher. This way we can clean all our jar donations in the shop.
We believe that zero-waste shopping is the way forward, and we want to make it as affordable and convenient as possible.
Who is Tay Larder?
Tay Larder is a husband and wife team running a new exciting zero-waste refill shop in Perth, where people can buy unique, handmade eco-friendly gift items, refill household products, cosmetics without the plastic packaging. We opened our shop right after the 2nd lockdown and it was well received by the people of Perth.
Why a zero-waste shop?
We were annoyed by the amount of plastic waste we created after every single visit to the supermarket. For example, do we really need our apples and bananas in plastic bags? Where do they end up? How long does it take to decompose these plastics? Little things like this made us realise the unnecessary waste that we were creating. These little reasons pushed us to open our zero-waste shop here in Perth.
In 1950, the world's population of 2.5 billion people produced 1.5 million tons of plastic; in 2020, more than 7 billion people generated over 300 million tons of plastic. This is set to double by 2034. In Scotland alone it is estimated that over 20 million plastic bottles are littered in Scotland each year and that approximately 120,000 tonnes of plastic packaging waste is produced from households in Scotland each year according to zero waste Scotland.
Why Crowdfund?
The answer is pretty simple. After we opened the shop we realised that we need to increase the range of what we offer so it is worth visiting the shop. We want to make sure that it is a one stop shop so that you can get almost all of your shopping done in one go. Most of the bank loans are at a higher interest rate and part of our profits will be going towards covering those rates rather than increasing our range. With your support we can get these systems and increase our product range so you can shop even more sustainably and accessible for an even wider range of the community.
What are we using the money for?
Currently, We are serving one customer at a time and this is sometimes off putting when we get few customers at one time. It has been very difficult for us to manage this. To eliminate this and to ensure a compelling and straightforward shopping experience, we need to purchase scales for the shop floor and a POS system.
Gravity dispensers are a great hygienic way of storing loose products such as grains and pasta, and they are perfect for self-serving. In addition, they will make the shop more attractive and interactive for the customers.
Peanut butter machine. Great way to get your nut butter without the packaging. We had so many customers asking for this but unfortunately it is way out of our reach without your support.
A lot of our time and money has already gone into Tay Larder and all the money raised will go into providing a helpful, hygienic, minimal waste store, which we hope you will enjoy shopping in more than ever.
(All these amounts are approximate.)
£3500 - Scales, POS and software. These will make shopping smooth and easy for everyone to use.
£3500 - Gravity and scoop dispensers. These are to store the foods free of any contaminants. They are easy to use for self service.
£2500 - Peanut butter machine. We can provide high quality fresh peanut butter without the glass waste
£ - Expanding stock. New dispensers need more stock. We want to make our store a one stop shop for you.
How can you help or get involved?
Donate whatever you can afford. We know these are tough times and we appreciate every penny. Purchase one of our great rewards. There's something for everyone. We also would love it if you could spread the word for us. It won't be easy just for us to do this alone. This is an all or nothing campaign which means if we don't get our target we will lose it all so every little helps.
What's in it for you?
We have created a few rewards for you. They might not seem a lot but we want to give you back something and say a massive thank you to each and everyone of you who supported us. We appreciate all your help. On top of that you get an independent, local, ethical store at your doorstep, making it easier to shop zero-waste and save the planet.
