Who are we?
Tavistock Cricket Club (CC) was founded in 1849 and has been a leading club in Devon, remaining at the heart of our community ever since. Over the years we have had lots of success, both on and off the field, and are proud to be a club for all abilities, where everyone is welcome.
Our 1st XI play in the A Division of the Devon Cricket League, with ambitions to gain promotion to the Premier Division. Whilst our 2nd XI play in the E division.
In 2024 we fielded 3 senior teams, including a women's team, 6 junior teams, including two girls teams, alongside a thriving All Stars and Dynamos (5 to 11 years) section. We are also very proud that 8 of current junior players are part of the Devon County Cricket training set up.
Over 130 children and young people play cricket at our club and we have big ambitions to increase opportunities for more people to play our wonderful game.
Why are we crowdfunding?
Tavistock CC is a forward thinking and inclusive club, deeply committed to ensure our sport is welcoming and accessible for all.
Over the last 2 years we have worked hard to expand and improve our clubhouse, adding new female changing rooms, toilets and disabled facilities. This investment has enabled the club to increase playing opportunities.
We have grown our junior teams from 2 sides in 2022, to 6 sides in 2024. Our vision is to to develop a further 4 teams in 2025, including an additional female team, a 3rd junior girls team, a team specifically for children with special educational needs and disabilities, and a seniors team, to encourage those aged over 50 to return to cricket or try it for the first time.
However, for this growth to be possible we need to have have access to decent training facilities.
If we can raise £15k then Sports England will match that amount towards our new nets project.
How we’ll spend the money raised
We will replace our old, dilapidated and dangerous nets with a brand new state-of-the art ECB approved 2 lane training nets. This requires the current concrete base to be removed and replaced with the ECB Approved Envelope System® pitch specification, and to replace the cage and netting system to an ECB Approved design. It’s a lot of work, however it will provide our players and coaches a fantastic facility for years to come.

Community impact
Female Cricket We have demonstrated our commitment and ability to opening up the game to non-traditional audiences with the growth and investment in female cricket at the club.
In 2023 we had 1 female playing junior competitive cricket and no (0) females over the age of 18 playing cricket at the club.
In 2024 we had 28 girls playing at the club, alongside 22 females, over the age of 18, playing cricket. We had 2 girls teams and 1 female team playing competitive cricket.
These achievements, in growing and opening up the game, were recognised by the Devon Cricket Foundation who awarded the club the Female Coach and Managers award in 2024.
Community Cricket We provide playing facilities and access to the clubhouse to our local state comprehensive school, Tavistock College, who do not have facilities suitable for cricket.
This enables the teachers and students to host games and use the club facilities as as their home ground. The club provides volunteer umpires and scorers to officiate at school matches. This support is provided at no cost to the school and recognises our commitment to community cricket.
2025 and Beyond
We have ambitious plans to develop further opportunities for people to get active and play cricket, however, to maintain this momentum we need training facilities that are fit for purpose. Through this project, all our players will have access to excellent facilities that are safe and conducive to improve playing cricket. Our volunteer coaches will have access to better training facilities to dedicate to supporting players skills and development.
