To repair the unadopted access road to the golf club, benefiting the members, walkers, horse riders and the wider Okehampton Community.
Access to the Golf Club is via a lovely tree lined road through farmland which is over half a mile long. However, this road is now in very poor condition with many pot holes and rough patches. We want to improve the roadway for the benefit of members and visitors, as well as for walkers, runners and horse riders.
The road then leads on to the bridle path through the golf course to Meldon Reservoir.
The course is within Dartmoor National Park but the upkeep of the road is not the responsibility of the Park Authority, nor from Okehampton Town Council, West Devon Borough Council or Devon County Council.
With the continual battle of increasing costs to raise sufficient income to keep the course in its prime condition and to maintain our unique Clubhouse & ageing equipment, the £30,000 bill for repairing the road is an unwelcome, but unavoidable cost, and we would be most grateful for any contributions, however small, towards this expense.
