I design computer cases, a hobby which I would like to turn into a full blown business. I need a small amount to complete a prototype for licensing. The funds, if I can reach the target, will be used for materials and tooling to construct prototypes to be sent to the BBC for approval and then the same tools can be used in production. This project, as you can see, is to create an eco-friendly miniature PC case of the current Dr Who TARDIS. The image shows an original prototype door panel 180mm x 100mm (18cm x 10cm). The tool used was a 6mm cutter and not the one that would be used in final construction.
You'll notice it’s made from wood (most PC casings are metals or plastics). This, however, is larch, one of the most renewable woods currently available.
This is NOT the finished panel, it’s yet to be treated and painted, but I thought the image would show the wood grain effect and hopefully make a few people take interest.
The wood has been tested in a number of working scenarios and is equal, in all circumstances, with the exception of noise reduction/pollution. In this situation it is far better than metal counterparts.
Thank you for your time.
