Build up to 5 toilets!
Hi,
We are Emi and James, 2 volunteers in TAMAN DAUN from France and England.
We are here to help educate local children in Lewoleba via English classes.
Taman Daun is a Non Government Organisation created in 1987. The projects they provide and oversee are:
- education for children of the community through English classes with the help of volunteers from around the world
- environmental projects such as planting corals, and cleaning up local beaches
- building projects including houses and toilets for the members of the community
Taman Daun needs help with this last project. They have built up to 50 houses around Lewoleba for free, as a donation, for people in need.
They will now focus on the construction of bathrooms for the locals, since a lot of houses do not have a toilet. This causes sanitary problems/disease on the island. The cost for one bathroom is between 3.5 to 5 millions RP (200-300€), so we need your help to provide these people with necessary facilities to help Lembata fight against sanitary disease. The final goal is to provide 500 toilets but this will have to be tackled one toilet at a time.
Water is a human right, but many people in Indonesia do not have access to safe and healthy water.
The proportion of people living in poverty in Lembata has reached 26.5% of an estimated population of 139,787 in 2022. That is over 37,000 people on the island in need.
Every €, $, £ or RP counts and please help the project!
Thank you for your time and donations!
