Aim

Help us to continue publishing stories to give older people a voice and a celebrated place in the media

Who are we?

The social enterprise project, Talking About My Generation news platform, is led by a team of volunteer community reporters from across Greater Manchester who are all aged 60 and over and are determined to change the record on ageing. We report on positive stories that challenge age-related stereotypes and instead show us for what we are: boxers, bakers, freedom-fighters, fundraisers, campaigners, creators, activists and artists - and above all, rockstars!

Since the pandemic hit we have moved our newsroom online. Our team meet virtually every month and we have published two podcasts, one printed magazine and more than one hundred stories, blogs and poems during the pandemic to give older people a voice and a sense of community at a time when both our reporters and readers haven't been able to see friends and family. Thousands of people have joined our community by reading the mag, visiting the site or listening to our podcasts.

What are we going to do with the money?

By contributing to our Crowdfund you will directly support us as a news team to continue publishing stories to give older people a voice and a celebrated place in the media.

You will do this by helping us to make improvements to our website; building its capacity to host more of our stories and help us cover our podcast and book club costs for 12 months - as well as covering the costs of growing our team of reporters. Read how it all started here.
