Talk Ourselves Well was created in 2020 as a Prevention measure in regard to suicide which has blighted our town in recent years.
Mick and myself created the Man Support Collective in 2021 where men can meet outdoors in a local park under a canopy with a campfire and we've engaged thousands of men since we started.
Mick had been battling cancer for 8 years previously and it was a journey we walked together, he once remarked to me that the Man Support Collective had given him an extra 2 years of life, purpose and friendship, sadly he lost his battle to Cancer last August.
We decided that in honour of Mick Keryk, who sadly lost his fight with cancer last year, that we would complete The Yorkshire 3 Peaks and try and raise some funds for the ongoing work we do within our community in supporting people with improving their mental wellbeing. Mick was integral to the development of the Mans Support Collective and he loved a good walk so we thought it fitting to honour him in this way. The route is roughly 25 miles and takes in 3 mountains.
The walk will be led by qualified walking leaders to ensure the challenge runs as smoothly and safely as possible.
We all completed the walk and got home safe and sound!
