The Take the Stand podcast was founded after a group of victim-survivors realised that victims of rape and serious sexual offences were being asked by the police and CPS to write victim impact statements (VIS), only to find that the majority were/are never read aloud, for a variety of reasons.
Our podcast gives people subjected to victims of rape and serious sexual offences the opportunity to read their statements aloud for the very first time and talk briefly about their experiences leading up to potential court appearances, whilst also holding space to discuss their feelings afterwards. This allows victim-survivors to have a voice, and take back their power.
We are asking for small donations to enable us to pay victim/survivors for the time they give to us and also pay for costs involved in running the podcast.
You can donate as little as £1.00 – every donation will help us offload necessary costs.
(NB. the volunteer podcast team are not seeking to be reimbursed for their time, just for necessary expenses as incurred).
