We need to raise money to pay for Planning Consultants to represent the residents at The Public Inquiry in April 2026 .
Help Protect Stinchcombe’s Countryside – Support Our Fight Against Speculative Development
Residents of Stinchcombe and Cam are coming together to defend our countryside, our safety, and the character of our village.
A speculative proposal for 73 houses has been put forward on land outside the settlement boundary, bordering the nationally protected landscape of the Cotswolds National Landscape. This development would increase the size of our small village by over 50%, permanently changing its rural character.
The proposal was refused by Stroud District Council in 2025, but the developer has now appealed to the Secretary of State, triggering a Public Inquiry. This is our last opportunity to ensure the voices of local residents are properly heard.
To present a strong, professional case at the inquiry, our community must raise £15,000 to appoint specialist Planning, Landscape, and Highways Consultants.
🚧 A Dangerous Road Access
The proposed access is located on a lethal bend on a fast link road connecting to the A38 and M5 motorway.
This stretch of road already carries more than 6,000 vehicles every day and has seen numerous accidents, including three tragic fatalities. Adding significant new traffic here would increase an already serious safety risk.
🌿 Protecting the Landscape
The site sits on the edge of the Cotswolds National Landscape and is clearly visible from
Development here would have a significant visual impact on one of the most treasured landscapes in England.
🏡 A Village Without Infrastructure
Stinchcombe is a small rural community with no local amenities:
A development of this scale would place pressure on nearby communities while fundamentally altering the identity of the village.
🦉 A Threat to Wildlife
The meadow is currently an important wildlife habitat and green corridor, supporting a range of species. Replacing this natural environment with housing would lead to significant habitat loss and fragmentation.
⚖️ Why We Need Your Help
Public Inquiries are complex and heavily evidence-based. Developers arrive with teams of expert consultants and legal support.
