Tadcaster York Sport Swim Squad aims to raise £3500 to help get our club back swimming safely and our community back together.
Please help young swimmers in the Tadcaster and York area. We are appealing for your support to help our swimmers return to pool training safely and to bring our swim community back together.
Who we are
We are a family friendly and successful competitive swim squad that encourages all swimmers to achieve their potential, and to regularly compete in galas and events. We welcome swimmers of all ages and abilities and currently have 89 members ranging from age 9 - 24. For many years the squad has trained at Tadcaster Community Swimming Pool offering 2 - 7 sessions a week. As the squad continued to grow we also began training at York Sport pool to provide swimmers with more training opportunities. In 2019 Tadcaster Swim Squad merged with York Sport to become Tadcaster York Sport Swim Squad. At this time we also developed a pathway for disability swimmers from the Tadcaster Stingrays to join main squad to train and compete alongside able bodied athletes which has been very successful.

Why we are fund raising and how you can help
Sadly following this period of growth, and with a waiting list of young athletes wanting to join the club our training pools closed in March 2020 due to COVID 19 and we have been unable to swim. Our members are missing the pool and their swimming friends. To keep spirits up during lockdown our coach and volunteers have organised several zoom calls with British Olympic and Invictus Games swimmers who have motivated the athletes, who now (even more so) want to return to the pool.
Looking forward we are planning how we can restart training again. We have organised some outdoor land training sessions and are working hard on a safe return to pool training. To do this we need your support. Our main training pool in Tadcaster cannot afford to open under the current Covid-19 restrictions, leaving the community without a vital facility and our swimmers unable to train. This means the club will incur increased pool charges hiring alternative pool time and increased coaching costs due to smaller training group sizes and shorter sessions while the restrictions are in place. As a club we hope to be able to subsidise some of the additional expenditure so that the cost for families is not too high.
We are therefore asking if you can make a donation to help ensure our club thrives, and appreciate any contribution you can make. Thank you in advance for your support.
