T Wells Women's Equality Party Branch Funding

Aim

To support the campaign and election of the first Women's Equality Party Kent County Councillor

Tunbridge Wells branch of the Women's Equality Party are fielding a candidate in the forthcoming Kent County Council elections on 4 May. One of the first branches of WEP to be putting forward a councillor for election we are delighted to be trailblazing for women in Kent. Our candidate Celine Thomas is a local resident, a working mother of three who is committed to making change happen. She says of her decision to stand 

"Throughout my working life, I have been involved with women's advocacy and support: from organising events for a working mum's community group, to being a representative for the women's network in the civil service. Now I am a volunteer support worker for a local domestic abuse charity and, since January this year, it has been my absolute pleasure to Chair our local branch. 

Talking to and speaking out for women is the thread that runs through my life. I believe that women need a voice at all levels of politics and I would like to be that voice for the women of this community; representing them on our Council so that we can be sure women are not the last to be heard.  Whether it's on education, transport or social care (and let's not forget refuse collection!) I'd make sure that gender equality was at the heart of decision making."
