Symondsbury Cricket Club-Covers and Equipment fund

Aim: Symene Cricket Club are aiming to improve and add new equipment to the ground, which would benefit all sections of our ever growing club!

Who are we?

We are a welcoming and hard-working cricket club that play in the lovely hills of Symondsbury, a village just outside Bridport. We have two adult teams and offer junior cricket to boys and girls from five through to 15. Overall we are home to 90+ youth and senior members!

Why are we crowdfunding?

As a club we are seeking to improving our facilities and want to produce the maximum potential for our members and our community. 

The last few years have seen too many games cancelled or rescheduled due to the weather. We wish to purchase roll-on pitch covers to help improve our ground and guarantee more game time on the square.  

As well as our junior and senior teams, we also host a local community evening league (the Crosby Cup), so the ground is always in use. We hope the covers will allow us to expand the club and enable us to play more games, including adding a women's team. We want our pitches at Symene to be the best the groundsmen can produce, so all our members can have fun playing and learning a wonderful sport.    

Palmers Brewery Community Fund is kindly supporting this project, as new covers will improve the club not just for the existing players but the wider community that supports us.

How we’ll spend the money raised

100% of the money raised will go towards the purchase of the new covers and any extra will go towards training equipment and improvements towards the ground.  

Community impact

Our ground is used by the local community for evening league games (Crosby cup) and we continue to have local support during our fixtures! Whether it's bringing your own picnic or supporting a family member, the community use the ground as a place to watch our entertaining games. From juniors starting senior cricket in the 2nd team to the 1st team clinching promotion on the last game of the year! The support from the community for the club has been unbelievable. We hope we can play more cricket with new covers and have as many great matches and days for years to come. We want match days to be a hub for the community to socialise or even get involved in a new sport!

There are four simple ways to help us reach our target, and make this project a reality.

2. Spread the word. Share our project on your social media pages and tell the world to get behind us! The more people we reach, the more support we will get.

3. Offer rewards. Get involved if you are a local business by donating things we can offer to our supporters. We will give you a shout out!

4. Fundraise for us. If you want to run your own fundraiser – maybe a sponsored activity or similar – use the 'contact project' button at the top of our page to let us know. Setting up your own page only takes a few minutes and you won’t need any bank details. Just a fun idea!
