About the Training Band
At Swinton we are passionate about enabling anyone who wants to learn to play a brass instrument to do so regardless of age or background, hence we offer free tuition and instrument loan and have no subscription fees. We have two very active groups who not only rehearse and practice together but also perform out in the community.
Our groups accommodate all ages so whether you have children who want to learn or you are an adult who wants to learn or return to playing after a long break we can cater for you.
Our sessions are entirely run by enthusiastic volunteers from our Senior Band who have all been dbs checked. We teach you how to read music as well as how to play a brass instrument.

In 2020 we designed and produced the Training Bands own logo to give them their own identity. They now all have a polo shirt for when performing together. This year we would like to be able to make it a warmer experience for them while still being identifiable, so would like to be able to provide all Training band with their own outdoor jackets! If you would like to contribute to buying a jacket you could do this via our rewards section.
Main Band
The main band practice twice a week in our own bandroom, because we own the bandroom we have the upkeep of the building as well as day to day bills to continue playing. Over the past few years we haven't been able to perform as much as usual to raise the amount of funds we previously had been and with energy bills rising this is a concern. The band has been around for 86 years and we hope with the support of the community to be around for many, many more.

This year as a thank you to the community for your support we would like the invite you to our Free Concert A Festival of Joy on the 11th December, details of how to get your free tickets below.
