BUY A FISH - Help the Wadebridge Sports & Leisure Centre keep swimming against the tide of pool closures due to rising energy costs!
Since moving into community ownership in September 2022, the Wadebridge Sports and Leisure Centre has more than proved its status as a vital community asset!
Run by the community, for the community
Home to over 12 different sports clubs and used weekly by over 700 students from Wadebridge school, it is also used by 12 local primary schools for swimming lessons, 3 surf life-saving clubs and our beach RNLI lifeguards train here to maintain their fitness. The centre now has 1200 active members and welcomes 5000 visitors each month, (even more during the holidays). It would be a terrible shame to see the doors forced to shut. But that is potentially a reality.
The cost of living is affecting us all, and we are feeling the rising costs at the Centre as much as in our own homes. Sadly, despite renegotiating out energy rates the energy costs remain too high, and quite simply our future looks a little bleak unless we do something about it now. Which is why we asking for your help. This is the first of a whole raft of fundraising efforts to secure the future of the Wadebridge Sports & Leisure Centre.
What can you do? BUY A FISH!
We are offering 5 different sizes, so hopefully there is something to suit all budgets. We are aiming to create an impressive shoal of fabulous fish swimming along the walls of the pool corridor. Your fish will be added along with your name as your pledge of support. We have lots of swirling fishy patterns that we cannot wait to try out and three giant walls that we can fill with fish if the demand is there!
Who can buy a fish? Everyone!
You can buy your very own fish to show your personal support, or purchase one in memory of a loved one. If, like many families, you have all used the centre over the years, you can show your family support with a Big Love family fish. Or why not club together on behalf of a group or your club and stump up for a Mega one? For any schools that fundraise for the centre, we will even create a bespoke fish in your very own school colours. Whatever you go for, we will paint it and lovingly name it, so that you can pick it out in the shoal of fish, and show all your friends. It will be a permanent reminder of your support that will last for years to come. Please note that you can name your fish when you leave us a comment!
The fishy mural will look impressive and all the funds will be used to keep the WSLC open. We are determined to keep swimming against the Tide, and we believe that we can do it with your help!
