Aim: I am raising money for MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) by swimming 25 miles in 8 weeks and would appreciate any support
After watching the soul destroying footage of Palestinian civilians being killed, maimed (Gaza has the highest number of child amputees per capita in the world), intentionally starved, and healthcare facilities destroyed, vital aid being withheld, and every day bringing fresh carnage while political leaders do nothing, I tried to think of something, anything, helpful I could do.
I thought about how swimming can help regulate the feelings of despair and anger - could I put that to good use?
So I figured I would try and set myself a swimming challenge that would hopefully help raise funds for the critical work that MAP (Medical Aid for Palestinians) continue to carry out, in the midst of a war zone.
I will be embarking on a swimming challenge that will cover 25 miles/41 km (the length of the Gaza Strip) in 8 weeks. That averages 5.125km per week, or 205 lengths of a 25 metre pool. It’s quite a stretch for me and I might need a bit of cheering on at times so any donation, no matter how small, or words of encouragement would be helpful. I will update regularly on progress and bore you with statistics (and see below)
