Support the 2014 World Cup Winning Squad in Their New Challenge for Gary Street
This year marks the tenth anniversary of the historic Women's Rugby World Cup win in Paris. To celebrate this incredible milestone, the victorious 2014 squad is taking on a new challenge: covering 2014 kilometres to raise funds for their beloved head coach, Gary Street.
The fundraising will be over the 17 days of August. This is the entire length of the Women’s Rugby World Cup 2014. That‘s five international test matches in under three weeks!
Gary, known as Streety, Gaz, or the Great Ballancino, has faced significant health challenges following a heart bypass operation last August, which led to a massive stroke and severe complications. Despite a grim prognosis, Gary has shown remarkable determination and resilience, making impressive strides in his recovery. However, he still needs ongoing intensive therapy and support to continue his progress.
To help Gary get back to his winning ways, the 2014 Women's Rugby World Cup squad is ready to go the distance—literally. Spread out across the country, members of the squad will be running, cycling, rowing, and swimming to collectively cover 2014 kilometres. Their goal is to raise the necessary funds for Gary's rehabilitation, including physiotherapy, speech, and occupational therapy, which are crucial for his continued recovery.
The raffle income will be added to their fundraising efforts!
