The Cause
Swansea City AFC Foundation have been selected to represent Wales at the 2026 Street Child World Cup, taking place in Mexico City. This will be a once in a lifetime experience for 10 street-connected young people from local communities across Swansea, many of whom have never left the county, let alone represented their country overseas.
This is the World Cup that matters – an event that shines spotlight on children living in street situations, the adversities they face and the fundamental rights they lack (identity, protection from violence, gender equality and access to education). This is a stage where the most marginalized children claim their right to be seen, heard and celebrated – not just as athletes, but as leaders of tomorrow.
The Street Child World Cup is a shining example of how football can be used to break down barriers, inspire change and empower young people, which is something we constantly strive to do as a Foundation.
