We all throw away a vast amount of stuff that has little wrong with it and could be given a new lease of life with a simple repair. That's the idea that motivated us -- a group of Sutton residents -- to set up a repair cafe based on the principles of the repair cafe movement. At our monthly session, skilled volunteers will repair electrical appliances, clothing, housewares, bicycles, toys etc. for free. Most household items that are broken (and which you can manage to carry on your own) are welcome and have a good chance of getting repaired. (Note we don't at the moment accept microwave ovens or anything petrol-driven.)
We're all volunteers but the project does have some costs, like materials, venue hire, insurance, etc. Whether you're concerned about climate change or want to ensure that the Sutton Repair Cafe is a success because you love the concept of a repair cafe on your doorstep, please consider a donation that can help us cover some of these expenses.
