Sustainability Festival (SustFest) is a community festival of local events that encourage sustainability all across the district.
SustFest is an award-winning annual festival where we co-ordinate a massive collaboration of over 100 local organisations reaching thousands of residents. It is all about engaging, informing, and inspiring environmental action. This year will be the sixth SustFest and it will run from 15th May - 31st May.
With your extra support, we want to spread the word much further, and reach far more people! We want to do more than just engage, inform and inspire those already living more sustainably. SustFest has the power to impact many more people if we can raise enough to promote it widely enough.
How we run SustFestEach year a volunteer working group representing communities from across the district get together to organise the festival. The working group encourages local nonprofits and organisations, businesses and entrepreneurs, schools and colleges all to run events and activities, creating an exciting sustainability festival by and for the people of St Albans District.
The Wombles film helps show the power of last year's festival, despite the limitations of Covid. We are now busy planning SustFest22, which will take place from 15-31 May 2022, and we need your help to make it a great success! Your gifts, large or small, will go towards creating banners and signs about SustFest throughout the District, and paying for talented individuals to put in the time needed to create successful social media campaigns to reach out to a range of groups and interests across St Albans, Harpenden and the villages. Funds will also be used to run market stalls and events to help community groups come together with event ideas, collect information on which events have been successful and how we can become even more sustainable going forward.
