On Sunday 29th September 2024, I'll be hosting and promoting a sustainable fashion fiesta in collaboration with Headstone Manor Museum to promote recycling and rethinking about our textile waste...but it will not be boring!
I plan to make a giant marble run from recycled cardboard tubes, textile bi product and Herras Fencing in the great barn for families to play with for free. It's gonna be massive! We have local stylist, Meera Shah, giving talks on sustainable fashion to stretch your mind but not your wallets! We have storytellers Pippa and Claudia on site in the Manor House for younger families and Watford Recycling Arts Project will be hosting a drop in textile craft using fashion industry bi-product. The fabulous Duck Pond Market will also be there to tempt you with their sustainable wares and we are all praying the sun will be out out out!
Headstone Manor are supporting me on my way with marketing, advice and donating the premises and Great Barn for free, but despite the hours of planning, volunteer spirit and community focus there are other costs, like a cleaning bill, external marketing, travel expenses and there's Herras fencing to hire. And in all honesty I want to pay some stewards at least the minimum wage to help me out so I don't get a kid swallowing a marble...I can't be everywhere at once....And covering my own costs (or at least some of them) would be great too!
My Arts Council England grant application which took over a week to put together (without AI) fell through as I wanted to work with everybody, not just focus in on one specific group, and as it's late in the funding application game, I'm asking you for financial help.
If you can get to us, you're welcome to come.
