Since the bloody military coup in 2021, people in Myanmar have been suffering from the brutality of the military dictatorship. Thousands have been killed and tens of thousands arrested. The situation for many trade union members is dire as they struggle under the oppression of the brutal military dictatorship.
Many victims of the Myanmar military regime have been subjected to torture as political prisoners, and many are in hiding to avoid arrest or conscription. These people desperately need our support.
The trade unions in Myanmar have been forced underground but are doing what they can to support their members, but they are in desperate need of funds to maintain their work and keep their members safe.
We are crowdfunding for a Solidarity Fund that will cover important aspects of their work.
Things like:
- Provide physical and mental health checks to people released from prison
- Provide safe houses for trade union organisers
- Give food, medicine and transport for people in hiding from the regime
- Send money to political prisoners to buy basic necessities
- Help union members escape forced conscription to fight for the military regime
Every penny raised will be sent to the trade unions in Myanmar to help them carry out their vital work supporting victims of the dictatorship.
