Why we need your help.

Surrey Dolphins Swimobility provides physically disabled people with the opportunity to swim and exercise in a safe and friendly situation. For our members the swimming pool is the only environment in which they can achieve total independence and freedom.

As the demand for the charity has grown over 14 years, so have our financial needs and  we must now meet a new financial target.  We are lucky to have the help of many volunteers, including  local physiotherapists, swimming instructors and the military, but we  need your help to reach our financial target so we can keep this wonderful charity running.  Everyone who donates is welcome to come and see us in action at the pool and to become part of our family.

About Surrey Dolphins Swimobility.

Surrey Dolphins Swimobility helps more than 110 members across Surrey with restricted mobility.  Our swimming members range in age from 18 to 86 and they have had amputations, strokes, hip or knee replacements, loss of sight  or  other physical disabilities such as MS, Parkinsons or arthritis. Every  swimmer has to overcome his or her own specific difficulties and it is wonderful to see how each one benefits from the water therapy, the company of others and the chance to reach personal goals.

Refreshments are provided  after each swimming session, giving members the opportunity to get to know other members and volunteers in a relaxed and happy atmosphere. Additionally, the Surrey Dolphins volunteers arrange many social events throughout the year including garden parties, day trips, quiz lunches and  trips to the theatre or pantomimes. Many good friendships have developed as a result of this and a strong support network has evolved amongst the members.

A growing number of young people need help after injuries sustained during military service or from road or other accidents. To provide social activities specific  for younger members,  we have recently established an 18-30s Young Forum.
