We're still collecting donations
On the 12th November 2024 we'd raised £21,500 with 285 supporters in 84 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.

The final stage of Phase 2 - the expensive bit! Laying a proper tarmac surface on this 1.3km stretch of the path.

On the 12th November 2024 we'd raised £21,500 with 285 supporters in 84 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Prices for construction are volatile at present so we may need more than £120k for the tarmac. If not, any extra will go towards Phase 3 of the path
Our volunteers have worked hard over a number of years to get the numerous permissions into place, and to clear, to fence and to construct the basic foundation of Phase 2 of the north Missing Link in Frome from Colliers Way to Elliots Lane. It is presently walkable and, if you have a sturdy enough bike, rideable.
We have a quote of £120,000 to fully tarmac this stretch of the path which will be great for ALL users. With now two pledges of £50,000 each, so long as we can do the work before April 2025, we now only have £20,000 to raise. Please contribute as little or as much as you can so that we don't miss that crucial deadline!
Background:
For over 10 years, Frome’s Missing Links has been working to close the gap between the centre of Frome and the Colliers Way, a traffic-free path leading to the town of Radstock. The route to the path involved using roads with steep gradients that were unsuitable for families, making it inaccessible without a car.
Over the years, the group has negotiated with Network Rail and landowners to establish a safe level route into town, and has built a long section of tarmacked multi-user path out though Whatcombe Fields, to near the rail crossing at Spring Gardens. At the same time, it has prepared another 1.3km path at the other end, heading back towards Frome, constructing an important section of safe and secure fencing alongside the quarry rail line. This has been made possible with a combination of donated funds, donated materials and lots of donated time by professionals and a dedicated group of volunteers, working every Friday throughout the year.
We now have a fantastic opportunity to make another big step towards bridging that gap. We have two pledges totalling £100,000, one from Sustrans and the second from an anonymous donor. Now we just need to raise a further £20,000 and we can complete the section from the Colliers Way to Elliot’s Lane, but we have a deadline of doing this by the end of March 2025!
Please donate if you can towards the last £20k to get phase two completed.
