Aim
Helping trapped residents get decent services and fair treatment from exploitative developers and agents’
We have lived and breathed the challenge of securing control of our own residential development in South Oxfordshire, in order to keep Service Charge Fees low:
- We found ourselves in a situation where our Developer wanted to hand over our Public Open Space to their nominated Managing Agent before they had finished construction.
- We were faced with accepting the nominated Managing Agent to look after maintaining our beautiful Public Open Space. Our Managing Agent had one of the worst reputations in the UK for profiteering from innocent residents like us.
- We pushed to agree a plan with our Developer and Managing Agent to take control and appoint a Managing Agent of our choice.
- We have been lucky. As a result of our actions we have avoided paying £120,000 in Service Charge Fees.
Having successfully extracted ourselves from our rogue Managing Agent, it's time to pay it forward and we need to get Residents First off the ground to provide support to other residents like us.
We can help residents who have been forced to pay Service Charge Fees before their site is complete, have seen their Service Charge Fees increase exponentially or perhaps their Property Manager never responds to their questions.
We aim to deliver:
- TRANSPARENCY - Improve residents' understanding about how their development is managed.
- FAIRNESS - Reduce residents' Service Charge Fees.
- CONTROL - Provide more control to residents over the work and costs of maintenance.
Any money donated will be used to support residents on their journey to a better future. This involves the following steps:
- Understand the resident's situation and what they want to achieve.
- Secure copies of relevant legal agreements and assess the implications of those agreements on the resident.
- Prepare a plan of action to take the resident towards achieving their objectives.
- Provide ongoing support as they take forward each step of the plan.
- Celebrate with them when they achieve their objective.
