Who are we?
Caudwell Youth supports young people at-risk aged 11 to 24 through person-centred volunteer mentoring for up to two years.
Billionaire philanthropist John Caudwell match funds 33% of all funds raised, increasing the value and impact achieved by our supporters. This includes all funds raised through this platform.
Caudwell Youth is on a mission to support young people facing a wide spectrum of additional challenges, primarily centred around mental health, care experience, offending behaviour, and exploitation.
Many of these young people experience co-occurring needs, increasing the risks they confront on a daily basis.
As of February 2024, we were working with:
Impact
Beyond every number is a young person who is being empowered to shape their own futures. We survey our young people every 4 months. The surveys are done in such a way that it is an opportunity for our young people to reflect on their growth while providing us with valuable data. The below data reflects improvements in our young people's lives since just Caudwell Youth.
Why are we crowdfunding?
We are crowdfunding because we value our outreach team and their impact on our young people. Our team faces new and complex challenges every day, and they need to be equipped with the right knowledge and skills to support them effectively.
However, the funding landscape for youth work is becoming more difficult and competitive. Many funders do not prioritise staff training, thinking that it does not directly benefit our young people. We disagree and we think you do too. We believe that investing in our staff is investing in our young people's future.
That is why we are asking for your help through Crowdfunding. With the generous support of Mortgage Advice Bureau and individuals like you, we can raise the funds we need to provide high-quality training for our outreach team. This will enable them to continue their vital work with confidence and competence.
Your donation is worth so much more
If we reach beyond our initial goal of £6,250, we will be able to offer more training opportunities for our staff. This will help us improve the quality and effectiveness of our outreach services.
We estimate that a budget of c£10,000 would cover all the training needs we have for the outreach team for the next 12 months.
Any funds raised above the original £6,250:
Will be matched by an anonymous donor £1 for £1. Our founder, John Caudwell will add an additional 33% to this.
This means that every £1 you donate will be worth £2.66.
This is a great opportunity to make a difference in our work.
How we’ll spend the money raised
Our outreach team needs to develop some essential skills to better serve our community. That's why we will use the funds raised to invest in face-to-face training, which has proven to be more effective than online training however also more expensive.
Some of the training courses we will take are:
- Suicide Prevention
- Trauma Informed Practice
- Youth Engagement
- Understanding the Brain
- Sleep Training for Young People
- Food Hygiene
- Designated Safeguarding Training (team leaders)
- Child and Adult Safeguarding Training
- Reflective Practice
