We are looking to host our float again on the Brighton Pride Parade 2023 representing Mauritius and other Indian Ocean islands!
Pink Islands started as a means to build a community that was much needed for the LGBTQ+ Mauritian diaspora in the UK. Last year we were thrilled to be able to represent Mauritius on the Brighton Pride Parade for the first time. The occasion was a monumental one for so many reasons - bringing our heritage to the biggest Pride parade in the UK and showcasing our fabulous culture, whilst proudly standing in solidarity with the LGBTQ+ Mauritian community. We have a rich and proud culture that we believe is important to convey to the world, especially on Brighton's most significant Pride festival.
We had many people from the Brighton community walk with us from across the Indian Oceana and Caribbean islands. WE DON'T INTEND TO STOP THERE! In order for us to put on this incredible and historic occasion again this year we need community help towards the costs involved - (Pride ain't cheap - can you believe it!) - its 2023 and now capitalism demands we must pay in order to protest and being a small grassroots organisation run by volunteers we simply cannot host the event again this year without donations - we kindly ask anything you can help towards us making ourselves heard and seen this year will move mountains for our community that has been overlooked for too long, and in return we PROMISE that you will witness an occasion like no other!
