Helping 26 year old Jayden, and his mum, raise £450 to support their musical performances to the community
Jayden Hansford is one special young man. Despite having autism and severe learning difficulties, Jayden has an extraordinary talent for music which emerged before the age of 5. Unable to access formal music tuition because of his disabilities, Jayden taught himself to play the keyboard. After years of searching, teachers of piano and singing were finally found and now Jayden, aged 26, sings and plays digital piano for those who love a bit of nostalgia. This provides Jayden, who cannot work in conventional ways, with valuable therapeutic work opportunities.
Before the pandemic, Jayden would perform regularly in nursing homes with his mother Janice and, during the pandemic, they took the performances online, offering a varied programme of gentle and jolly songs from shows, choral and light opera, light classical as well as singalong songs. The performing duo are now busy
scheduling their calendar of live and online performances for the rest of this year and beyond.
Jayden and Janice, who also has a disability and is now entering her twilight years, are both living proof that neither age nor disability need be a barrier to achievement.
As Jayden and Janice do not receive any funding for their performances, we are helping them to help raise £450 to purchase a new lighweight keyboard for Jayden, a selection of sheet music and backing tracks as well as an annual subscription to Sheet Music Direct to enable more economical downloads of the sheet music they need for their performances. I would be grateful for any help to enable Jayden and Janice achieve their goal, please make a donation today.
