Diss Otters would like to raise £6,000 to allow our swimmers to continue to train through the pandemic.
Diss Otters Swimming Club is a Community Amateur Sports Club and a non-profit making organisation dedicated to the improvement and progress of competitive swimming, in all ages and to all social backgrounds.
We aim to encourage and develop good sportsmanship, individual integrity, team spirit and provide an environment in which swimmers can realise their full potential at all levels.

In October 2019 we took 21 swimmers to Mallorca for a week long inspirational swim camp to be coached by Olympians Jemma Lowe and Thomas Haffield.
WHY ARE WE RAISING FUNDS?
Unfortunately, due to Covid-19 our swimmers have only been able to undertake intermittent training since the outbreak in March.

Due to the guidelines that we are following we have been reduced our squad sizes which has impacted our revenue and the stop/start of training during lockdowns as effected our ability to retain our membership.
We are keen to ensure that our 80 plus swimmers continue to benefit from the training and competing opportunities that we offer. We are a parent run club and simply don't have the financial reserves needed to see us through a crisis of this duration, let alone an added prolonged period out of the water.
We also understand how important swimming is to so many. Not only does it have an impact on our physical health, but also our mental well-being.
Diss Otters has been helping children learn to swim and compete for over 35 years and we need your help so we can keep doing this for many more years! We would very much welcome new members to join our club once current lockdown measures allow.

HOW WILL WE USE THE MONEY RAISED?
We anticipate using the money raised to support the club with additional pool costs while also trying to rebuild our swimmers back to fitness in a safe environment. We believe it is vital that all swimmers are supported and in doing so retain there friendships with squad mates through such challenging times.

SO WHAT HAVE WE BEEN DOING TO KEEP ENGAGED AND CONNECTED WITHOUT ACCESS TO THE POOL?
Several skype sessions were organised to keep the swimmers connected during the first period of lockdown. This included Nutrition advise, coaches/swimmer catch-ups and Strength & conditioning sessions.

From July to December the swimmers have been able to take part in face to face Strength and Conditioning sessions and the benefits were really paying off. Level X Competition saw 22 all time club records broken during Series 1 and it was evident how much our swimmers had missed the opportunity to compete!
MATCH FUNDING CAN INCREASE THE TOTAL WE RAISE!
We are applying for Sport England Return to Play: Active Together match funding. If successful, Sport England will add to the monies raised to make our total even bigger! This means that any donations are worth more to us when donated through this crowdfunder, so please do help us in any way you can!
