Aim

To help dementia carers manage money, access benefits, and reduce stress through one-to-one support and workshops.

Dementia Carers Count supports anyone caring for someone with dementia. Caring for a loved one with a degenerative disease is relentless, isolating, and emotionally exhausting. In 2024, 90% of carers told us they were at breaking point.

Financial worries make caring even harder. Many carers reduce work hours or leave jobs entirely, while managing higher household costs, extra care expenses, and lost income. By supporting their financial wellbeing, we can prevent crises and empower carers to continue caring with confidence.

What we’ll do with your support:

65 one-to-one sessions with financial experts to help carers access benefits, plan finances, and gain confidence.

12 online peer support groups for roughly 200 carers, giving them a safe space to share experiences and learn practical money management skills.

Expand our online and print resources with practical guides addressing common financial challenges at every stage of dementia care.

Promote our services offline and by phone to ensure digital inclusion for all carers.

Impact so far:

In 2024, we helped unlock over £202,000 in unclaimed benefits for carers.

92% of carers reported feeling more able to cope after support sessions.

Online resources reach over 9,700 carers per month.

Your support will:

Directly benefit 265 carers with expert guidance and peer networks.

Indirectly support over 12,000 carers accessing resources online or via newsletters.

Improve carers’ financial resilience, reduce stress, and enhance quality of life for both carers and the people they care for.
