Help us keep basketball free and accessible for London’s most marginalised communities, breaking down financial barriers to sport.
The London Basketball Association (LBA) is a community charity using basketball to engage and support the most marginalised communities across London. For us, basketball is more than a sport — it is a way to bring people together, create positive opportunities and help people feel connected to their community.
Our vision is simple: to make basketball accessible to the people who benefit from it most, regardless of their financial circumstances or background.
Across London, the ongoing cost-of-living pressures are expected to continue, making it increasingly difficult for low-income families and disadvantaged young people and adults to afford activities that support their health, wellbeing and social connection. The cost of taking part in sport has quickly become a significant barrier, particularly for communities already experiencing financial hardship.
This is why we want to raise funds to help LBA continue providing free, accessible basketball opportunities in communities across the capital. The money raised will help us deliver regular sessions, provide qualified coaches and equipment, and keep participation free for those who would otherwise struggle to take part.
Through our programmes, participants will stay active, meet new people, build confidence and develop skills such as communication, teamwork and leadership in a supportive environment. We will also create opportunities for participants to progress beyond simply taking part, including pathways into coaching, officiating and other opportunities within basketball.
With your support, we can continue using basketball as a tool for positive social change and ensure that financial circumstances do not determine who gets the opportunity to participate.
