Aim

Together, we can build a regenerative farm that supports wildlife, promotes cow welfare, and secures healthy food for our local community.

                                              The Situation

Three months ago, we received devastating news: after more than 25 years with the same milk buyer, our organic bulk milk contract was being terminated.

The reason? We are now considered too small.

Modern dairy factories favour large industrial herds producing huge volumes of milk as cheaply as possible. But that has never been our way.

At the Wild Cow Dairy, we chose a different path.

                                              Who We Are

Since 1974, Wicton farm has been dedicated to producing high-quality natural food while caring for the soil, the animals, and the wider environment.

We have a small herd of just 50 cows, each treated as an individual with care and respect. The people who work on our farm have all found their way to us through different journeys — refugees, local apprentices with learning differences, volunteers, friends, and family members.

Our cows are milked just once a day, are 100% grass-fed, and live a slower, more natural lifestyle. We are a certified organic, antibiotic-free farm working with nature to help create a healthier and more secure local food system.

Our calves stay with their mothers, and we allow our cows to keep their horns. The result is beautifully rich, creamy milk produced by relaxed and healthy animals.

Everything we do is guided by one belief: healthy wildlife, healthy soil, healthy animals, and healthy people are all interconnected. There are no shortcuts.

                                              The Choice

Our values and farming methods no longer fit the industrial dairy model.

So now we face a choice:

Stop dairy farming altogether.Or, with your support, create a new future for Wicton Farm and our local community.

                                              The Vision

With your help, we want to raise £47,000 to transform the future of The Wild Cow Dairy and build a thriving regenerative food system for generations to come.

1. On-Farm Dairy Processing

We will say goodbye to the milk tanker lorry and create a dedicated milk processing space so we can continue bottling and selling our raw and pasteurised milk directly to you.

This new space will also allow us to:

  • Make and mature artisan cheeses
  • Produce yoghurt and cultured dairy products
  • Develop new products based on the needs of our community

By processing all our milk ourselves, we can remain independent, sustainable, and deeply connected to the people we feed.

2. A Community Collection Hub

We want to create a dedicated on-farm collection hub for our customers and supporters — a place where people can access high-quality natural food directly from Wicton Farm and the Wild Cow Dairy.

This will be more than just a collection point. It will be a place where you and your family can reconnect with where your food comes from, fill your basket with local produce, have a cup of tea, and become part of a farming system built on trust, integrity, community, and care for nature.

We also hope to expand into organic cheese, meat, eggs, and seasonal vegetable boxes in the future.

3. A Better Space for the Cows

Finally, we want to improve life for our cows and calves by replacing our existing metal cubicle beds with a spacious deep-bedded straw resting area for the winter months.

This natural system will:

  • Improve cow and calf welfare
  • Support healthier soil biology through composted straw manure
  • Create a calmer and more natural environment for the herd

This is better for the animals, the land, and the future of natural farming.

                                          Why It Matters

These three projects will help secure the future of Wicton Farm and protect a way of farming that puts nature, animal welfare, and high-quality food first.

Together, we can build a thriving regenerative farm that supports wildlife, promotes high cow welfare, and creates a secure, healthy local food system for our community and future generations.

We are what we eat.

                                           What Happens Next

We have set ourselves a deadline of 1st August to raise the funds we need, with the goal of completing the project by Christmas 2026.

We are practical, hard-working people who believe small farms still have an important role in the future. We are fully committed to making this vision a reality.

This is more than saving a farm.

It is about proving that local communities can play a direct role in creating a healthier, more resilient food system for generations to come.

Thank you for being part of this journey and helping us create positive change from the ground up. We welcome you to join us.

All our supporters will have their name written up on the wall of the community hub as a thank you and to demonstrate the power in working together and making change happen.
