Aim

More than EVER, we need Green Party councillors elected to safeguard Cumbria’s future. Please help us raise £3000 to make this happen.

We are in deep trouble. Our political leaders have failed us in so many ways. 

• COP26 was a disaster – we face what the IPCC has called ‘catastrophic’ climate breakdown and time for action is fast running out.
• The chasm between the rich and the poor continues to widen.
• The sleaze at the heart of government is damaging democracy at all levels.
• Wildlife and habitats are being decimated by pollution, pesticides, climate change and development.
• Our precious National Health Service is crumbling.
• The right to peaceful protest is under attack.

The list goes on…

Closer to home we are seeing plans for more roadbuilding in Cumbria when what we desperately need is low carbon public transport and safety for cycling and walking. More people than ever are dependent on food banks in our local community. The increasingly extreme weather threatens our lives, livelihoods and landscapes.

As we face environmental, social and economic chaos, more and more people are realising that the Green Party offers hope, integrity and courage. We want to turn this public support into Council seats in Cumbria. Please help us by donating today.

Why we need your help

We have come incredibly close to winning seats for Green Party candidates in local elections in South Lakes District several times. At the start of our campaign back in 2014 the Lib Dems laughed us off. Now they are doing everything they can to stop us.

We have fantastic candidates and have built up an incredible team of volunteers. We know what we need to do to beat the Lib Dems and win Green seats at town, district and county levels at the local elections in May 2022.

Success depends on hard work and funding. We can do the hard work, but we need your help with the funds.  More money will enable us to deliver the Green message to every potential voter through posters, flyers, leaflets, letters and more.

The Green Party is entirely reliant on donations and membership fees from individuals – we do not accept money from businesses. So every amount that you can donate will help us win seats for our fantastic candidates.

Green party policies stand for much needed change, for investment in sustainable jobs, for public services in public ownership for public benefit, for the creation of more equal communities which make our lives safer and happier, for rapid action in response to the climate and ecological crises we face.

Town and District Council seats are currently dominated by just one party - the Lib Dems - for too long. It's time for a change - for Green Party Councillors to break the Lib Dem monopoly and introduce new thinking and action.
