Re-elect Local Champions for Newham 🌻
We’re proud to be standing together: Danny Keeling, Dr Chae Ho Hwang, and Sonia Quintero - three local champions with a record of action, compassion and Green values at heart.
This crowdfunder will power a people-led campaign rooted in community, fairness and practical change. If you believe in a fairer, safer, greener Newham, chip in today.
🌿 Danny Keeling - Standing Up for the Most Vulnerable
Over the past year, Danny has worked tirelessly for residents across the borough:
Intervening to stop evictions and support families facing homelessness
Pushing for better lighting and safer streets, particularly in under-lit areas
Advocating for meaningful knife crime prevention - not just headlines, but long-term solutions
Supporting residents navigating complex council and housing systems
As a member of the Council’s healthcare committee, Danny has championed:
Greater support for trans people
Improved access to sexual health services
Stronger mental health provision
Protection and expansion of maternity rights
This is what Green politics looks like in action: practical, compassionate and focused on those too often left behind.
🩺 Dr Chae Ho Hwang - A Doctor for Social Justice
As an NHS GP, Dr Chae Ho Hwang sees every day how inequality harms health. He knows that public health isn’t just about hospitals - it’s about housing, dignity and basic rights.
In Full Council, he has spoken up for:
The rights of people experiencing homelessness
Ensuring access to water during heatwaves - because water is a human right, not a luxury
A public health approach to tackling poverty and inequality
Dr Chae Ho brings professional expertise, calm leadership and deep compassion. He understands that prevention, early support and fairness save both lives and public money.
🌈 Sonia Quintero - Community Power in Action
Sonia Quintero is a tireless LGBTQIA+ refugee campaigner and a passionate defender of community spaces.
She has:
Fought against Labour’s devastating 50% cuts to local libraries
Campaigned to protect inclusive, welcoming public spaces
Organised and led grassroots community groups, including the Newham Poetry Group
Supported refugees and marginalised residents to find their voice and belonging
Sonia believes libraries, arts and community groups are not luxuries - they are lifelines.
💚 Why We’re Standing
We share core Green values:
Social justice and equality
Properly funded public services
Safe, welcoming communities
Climate action that works for ordinary people
Growth with a purpose: homes, jobs and inclusive communities
We believe Newham deserves councillors who work all year round - not just at election time.
