Aim

Support a community of Ukrainian artists in exile creating multidisciplinary art projects in the UK and worldwide

We are VYR collective – a group of professional Ukrainian artists who have worked on the biggest stages and film industry projects in our country. before.

After we were in the army, under occupation, we faced the horrors of de-occupation and the experience of displacement. So we found ourselves in the UK. VYR (meaning Vortex) was born from a need to continue creating after displacement - to find new forms, new collaborations, and new meaning in an unfamiliar context.

We bring together artists from different disciplines to create multidisciplinary, immersive work at the intersection of theatre, movement, storytelling, poetry and digital art. Our work explores what it means to be human in a world that is constantly shifting - between identities, moral norms and realities.

Our aim is to build cultural bridges through art. While rooted in Ukrainian experience, our work is created for diverse audiences - especially those living in the UK and beyond.  Through performances, exhibitions and collaborative projects, we create spaces where audiences can connect on a deeper level, beyond words, and reflect on the value of human life, empathy and shared responsibility.

Core Team:
