Running Hackney Half for The People’s Recovery Project & a film on loss, addiction & hope. Raising funds for urgent help & lasting impact.

Hey everyone,

I think it’s about time I shared that I'm running the Hackney Half this May.

The last few months have involved a lot of tears, sore knees, rinsed playlists and an abundance of makeshift running attire.

But none of that really matters as it’s all for a cause greater than me.

I’ve partnered with The People's Recovery Project, a non-profit charity supporting those affected by addiction, homelessness, and insecure housing. Causes that shaped my early life.

In 2023 over 1400 people died while experiencing homelessness and over one third of these deaths were related to drugs and alcohol.

The project is designed to create an alternative pathway and a package of support. Aiming to make recovery achievable and sustainable by providing access to residential treatment: co-designed and co-delivered by community members with lived experience.

TPRP are only in their 4th year, so they need as much support as possible. I really admire the direct action they take and I think you will too.

As some of you might know, I'm also making a documentary about a similar journey. About childhood bereavement, about living with addiction in the home, and about reconciling with a parent later in life. It’s a story about loss, but also about repair and hope.

I’m making this film to start conversations, and hopefully help young people find the courage to speak, seek support, and imagine better futures.

The People’s Recovery Project will be a long term partner in this. They will provide me with guidance and support throughout this journey. In return, I’ll support them, their growing community and raise awareness of the great work they do.

As a result, every donation will be split equally:

50% goes directly to The People’s Recovery Project.
50% helps me complete the documentary

Essentially, with your help, we can support immediate impact and long-term social change.

I know the times we’re in are difficult, so if you have the capacity to donate please do.

If not, please share this link and if you’ve seen me tripping over dog leads on Peckham Rye in outfits from lost property - no you didn’t.

Pri x
