Join the creative adventure of my next studio album 'The Grand Europa' and support the release of my first ever vinyl record.
In January I took my songs of adventure, romance and espionage to the snowy streets of Prague and began recording my album at Faust Studios. The album unfolds like a series of vignettes; an adventure across old Europe with partisans, spies, artists, and bohemians . At the heart of it is a love story in the shadow of war.
Partly inspired by my time living in Poland and by the cosmopolitan, worldy acoustic sounds of 70's Dylan and Leonard Cohen, the album uses themes from spy fiction and classic literature as symbols and allegories that touch upon my own journey, modern life and current geo-political realities.
Up to this point as an independent artist I have self - funded the project and will continue to do so through my music activity, but I need your help to bring in a world class band and finish the production and mixing of the album. If you are discovering my music for the first time, I am a UK singer songwriter and have been recording and touring as Tobias ben Jacob for over 15 years. I recommend listening to my biographical album 'A Polyphonic Life' (2016) and my immersive, journalistic style album about the refugee crisis 'REFUGE' (2020)
*We launch these projects with hope and optimism but we have no idea how they will progress... so if the crowdfunder looks like it is set to reach or surpass its target I will make not one , but two albums! I will add as an additional perk a second album I have begun work on called 'The Bright Road' ; song themes that didnt fit into this project but charted their own course..
The album is set for release in September but I will share new music as soon as its ready with the digital versions likely to drop much sooner. The live album will be available in April/May.
