Aim
Help The Lab to cross the next hurdle! Being a not-for-profit in a corporate world is tough! Help keep our heads above water this Summer.
The Lab is a Community Music & Arts Venue nestled away in a residential area in Northampton, just a few minutes from the Town Centre.
We aim to create a space that is safe for people from all backgrounds to explore themselves, their expression and art. We help to make dreams come true. Regularly hosting artists first gigs, taking a risk on touring acts unheard of in this country, for sound systems to tune their equipment & experiment with the crowd. We hold space in the community for people to celebrate their achievements and major life events, to come together to mourn loss of loved ones. We are also just about to launch a new Community Choir, starting on the 13th August.
In 2024-2025 we held a Women's DJ course hosted my Madame Electrifie, resulting in a Women's DJ Collective of 10+ people who are now setting off for Shambala, Stowaway festival and multiple other venues equipped with new confidence and skills.
This March, we celebrated 10 years of The Lab. This is a huge landmark for us, as there are so many hurdles we have had to cross, and times when we could have given up. The support and response was incredible, showing how valued The Lab is in Northampton.
It has been 1 year since we last asked for your help through a tough period. Footfall has been low at times, much lower than we need, and people don't have the same disposable income that they once had, alongside rising cost of drinks. We have received funding to support various specific projects, but this does not cover the majority of our overheads and currently we are awaiting a verdict whether we will get the next funding we have applied for. Unfortunately this has left us unable to keep up with essential overheads like electricity and gas.
We are asking for your help so that we can keep our heads above water while we push through festival season, so that we can continue to provide a home for so many diverse and exciting communities to bring joy to Northampton.
