Our aim is to raise funds to survive the Covid-19 pandemic thereby ensuring the care of our animals for the next 3 months
In light of the government's recent advice surrounding COVID-19, we have had to close Reptilarium to the public. This means we will have no cashflow coming in for the zoo over the next few weeks (and maybe even months). Despite us having to close to the public, we still have bills to pay and animals to feed! We are asking for your kind support during this difficult time.
Crowdfunder are offering to cover all fees for small businesses affected by the coronavirus meaning 100% of the money raised will go toward saving the Reptilarium.
For those that dont know our story... we set up the Reptilarium to provide sanctuary for pet terrapins that would otherwise face euthanasia due to invasive species legislation.
We have always been self funding by selling admission to pay for running costs. Our running costs come to approximately £2000 a month (which includes rent, electric, food and insurances). The upcoming Easter holidays are a really important time for us! We rely heavily on the Easter footfall to top up the cash needed to survive. But now that isn't happening, our bank account is sadly almost empty. And will invetiavtable stay that way unless we can find a solution.
It's looking like we will be closed for the next 3 months (or more) - which leaves us looking at having a £6,000 hole in funding.
Please donate if you can or pledge £15 to get your hand on prepaid family ticket! And please share this crowdfunding campaign far and wide amongst your friends and family. Together we can weather the storm and save the animals at the Reptilarium.

The Isle of Wight Reptilarium is an all weather tourist attraction based on the Isle of Wight, Situated at the site of the old Marine Aquarium at Fort Victoria Country Park, Freshwater,
Our exhibit of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates of the world are in naturalistic themed displays that explore the biomes these animals inhabit, we want to educate the public to the threats these animals face in the wild as well as our native herpetofauna that can be found on our doorstep in the adjacent country park.
We are a small indoor, chargeable exhibit, that will take around 1.5 hours to explore (if you look at all the animals), we have live Reptiles, Amphibians and invertebrates on display to educate and inspire our visitors.
We really want to help the future generations and currently there is a shortage of suitable work experience placements on the Island for students looking to study Animal Care, we would like to provide much needed placements as well as traineeships and apprenticeships in conjunction with Island Training providers so we can inspire and enthuse the next generations of conservationists and animal care professionals, giving them basic work and animal care skills they can carry forward onto greater things.
Thank you for taking the time to support our Crowdfunder and we look forward to welcoming you to the Isle of Wight Reptilarium when it reopens.

We ask project owners to honour their rewards wherever possible but please note that all pledges are donations and there is no guarantee that you will receive any rewards from the project owner. Please see Crowdfunder's Terms of Use for more information regarding rewards for pledges.
