Support The Café,a new play at the Voila! Festival

Aim

The production is being developed by an international creative team based in the UK. All funds raised will support the London production.

I am an assistant producer on the show. The rest of the creative  team , as well as I , are mostly students at the Royal Central School of Speech & Drama in London. Through the lives of its characters, the play explores the realities of migration, loneliness, cultural difference and the idea of a "chosen family".

Set in a small café in London, The Café follows four people living under very different circumstances. International students, migrants and a journalist come together over coffee, food and the uncertainties of everyday life. As money runs low and opportunities around visas and employment become increasingly limited, they gradually become a temporary source of support for one another, while asking what it means to belong when home is no longer nearby.

As an independently produced Fringe theatre project, we are working with a very limited budget. Your support will help us cover essential production costs, including:

Rehearsal space

Theatre hire and technical costs

Travel and meal contributions for performers and the creative team

Set, props, costumes, lighting and sound

Marketing and promotional costs

Every contribution, no matter the amount, will help us create a safer and more sustainable working environment for our team and give this new piece of theatre the opportunity to reach a wider audience.

The Café will be presented as part of the 2026 Voila! Theatre Festival at the Etcetera Theatre on 16 and 17 November 2026.
