Aim

I am publishing my novel 'The Belles of Waterloo' in April 2022, and need your help to get it into as many bookshops as possible - join us!

Hello and welcome to my fundraising page...thank you for being here!

I'm so excited to tell you about my latest project which is inspired by a collection of letters sent from Brussels between 1814 - 1815 from the Capel family to the family matriarch the Dowager Countess of Uxbridge back in England. The real life story of the Capel sisters and their mother inspired my novel, and the majority of the events are written as they unfolded over two hundred years ago.

I have teamed up with my publishers Unicorn Press to publish the book in April 2022, and we need your help to get it into as many hands as possible...

...but first a little bit about the book.

The Capel family were penniless aristocrats who had to leave London to escape creditors, arriving in Brussels in the spring of 1814.

Little did they know that the following year they would have a front row seat to the most important battle of their generation - the Battle of Waterloo. The Belles of Waterloo follows the adventures of Maria Capel and her sisters Georgy and Harriet, as well as their mother Lady Caroline Capel (pictured here with baby Harriet).

I am so excited to reveal the front cover of the book and the blurb, to give you an idea of what to expect...

Maria, Georgy and Harriet navigate their first throes of passion, scandal, and love in the heady pre-war atmosphere of Brussels in 1815.

The three sisters arrive in a new city wishing to join in the adult world of balls their mother revels in. Little do they know they will be waltzing their way to the battle of the century at a small village called Waterloo.

As the fight for Europe rages outside the city walls, Maria seeks to find herself – will she also find a husband along the way?

Think Georgette Heyer mixed with Bridgerton and Downton Abbey!
