Having been abused, harassed and slandered in the street whilst going about his business as a Member of Parliament, Colonel Bob Stewart was bizarrely reported, charged and then convicted of a ‘racially aggravated public order offence’ for his response, which was nothing of the sort.
He was fined £600 by Westminster Magistrates’ Court and ordered to pay legal costs of £835. The cost of defending this case also runs into tens of thousands of pounds, even before an appeal is potentially launched, which will cost even more.
It is a disgrace to see a case such as this going to court, let alone for a decorated military hero and veteran, such as Colonel Stewart. Many will be appalled at the subsequent conviction for what was simply a polite request for somebody to go away and conduct their protest somewhere else where it would be more appropriate.
This is no way to treat our veterans.
Therefore, we are launching a fundraiser to cover both the fine and any other legal costs incurred by Colonel Stewart, a man who served in the Army for nearly 30 years, including stints in Northern Ireland and Bosnia, receiving a Distinguished Service Order.
Please show your support by donating here. Any amount raised above the level needed will be donated to the Royal British Legion.

This project aims to raise funds to resolve a claim, or other type of dispute. Neither Crowdfunder nor the Project Owner can guarantee the outcome of that dispute, or that it will be resolved at all. Due to the uncertain nature of disputes, it is not possible for the Project Owner to be sure that the amount it raises will be enough to resolve the dispute or to see it through to its conclusion. If the desired outcome of the dispute is achieved in the first instance, it may be subject to appeal and may be overturned.
