Since 1997 Rostra Gallery has supported over 500 artists and local arts societies and been an employer and champion of talented people keen to make their way in the art world.

Driven by our belief that art should be available to everyone, we are well known for our affordable and varied offer as well as for our friendly and open attitude. By selling art at all budgets - from well-known artists as well as new graduates - we have started many a person on their journey to being an art lover and owner.
We have never asked for help before, but we need it now.
In these difficult times, we are reaching out to you, to help us raise £8k to cover the unavoidable overheads and bills that must still be paid.
Insurance, artist works storage (a gallery cost never passed along to artists), bills, art fairs fees and exhibition costs (already committed to for 2020 with the intention of showcasing our artists) plus website management and updates to make sure we're maintaining our online presence and keeping our artists in the public forum, all add up.
We've done the sums and if we raise that, we should make it through this challenging time. And by helping us you will help the many artists and suppliers we support, many of whom are struggling financially at the moment. (We are currently supporting around 100 artists both locally and nationally.)

About Rostra Gallery...

Over the years, we've not only supported a large number of permanent staff, but also artists and art students.
We have also given our customers exclusive, behind-the-scenes insight into our artists' lives and practices via artist workshops; connecting our customers to the art world and our artists, offering them a unique appreciation of the processes, skills and the hard work involved. These workshops see our artists share their craft with customers offering a special opportunity to learn screenprinting, etching and ceramics direct from the experts.
In our 20th year, we were forced to move from our much loved and established premises in Bath, due to a huge rise in costs implemented by a new landlord. We have spent the last couple of years getting back on our feet with the much-appreciated help of our artists, customers and staff members; all the time trying to adapt to our new manner of working whilst finding a way of perpetuating our original vision.
The COVID-19 virus has struck at a time when things were finally falling into place. Having fought so hard and sacrificed so much to keep the gallery going, with your help, we are determined not to lose the business and let down the artists who depend on us...
Thank you.
