Dance organisation committed to creating groundbreaking original works and providing opportunities for anyone to engage with the arts.
by James Bamford in Yeovil, Somerset, United Kingdom
Project Dance was founded in 2018 by James Bamford when he was 14. Conscious of the profound impact the arts had on his own life, James wanted to create opportunities which would allow anyone also reap the benefits of watching and performing dance. Ambitious from the offset, James soon set about creating a variety of dance events, workshops and performances in order to achieve his goal of making dance more accessible.
Since then, through the creation of original, socially motivated dance theatre and the development of engagement opportunities designed to allow anyone to experience the benefits of dancing, the company has grown into an established, respected and game-changing dance organisation.
As part of Project Dance's mission to make the arts accessible to everyone, the Young Dancer Bursary Fund was established to enable exceptional young dancers wishing to pursue a career in the arts with the opportunity to take part in training and experiences offered by Project Dance at a subsidised or waived fee.
So far, the Young Dancer Bursary Fund has supported over 20 dancers and subsidised over £5000 worth of dance training.
