Queen’s Football Club was founded in 1910, two years after Queen’s College Belfast became Queen’s University Belfast.

Queen’s have progressed to the Northern Ireland Football League (NIFL) Championship League having won the Premier Intermediate League in 2018, thus gaining promotion to the NIFL Championship and Senior football for the first time in the Club’s history.

Successes
Other notable achievements in recent years have included reaching the semi-final of the Irish Cup in 2014 and winning the IFA Intermediate Cup in 2018. In January 2020 came an amazing day when Queen’s defeated Linfield in the fifth round of the Irish Cup, probably the biggest shock result in the history of the competition.

Challenges
Like most industries, we have been negatively impacted by the global pandemic and have seen our participation and income figures suffer. As a third level football club we depend heavily on the recruitment of school leavers coming to join our club. The global pandemic and local government lockdowns enforced a lack of participation and as a result, we have seen a drop across our membership, volunteer, coaching and sponsorship levels.

Project
Our project aims to increase our participation figures in these areas with the below initiatives.

1. We want to offer additional coaching for those school leavers who have not had much football in 18 months- tailored to their ability.

2. We want to offer them new recreational and competitive matches against players of a similar age and ability at a time that is convenient to young people

3. We want to offer them the opportunity to meet young people of a similar age through football and help them get fit and healthy and enjoy the social aspect of the sport.

Through your support we will be able to cover our coaches fees, facility hire,  equipment purchase and training up our student volunteers as coaches
