On the 14th January 2022 we'd raised £268 with 11 supporters in 42 days. But as every pound matters, we're continuing to collect donations from supporters.
Old Silkstone Band is part of a national initiative launched by Brass Bands England to help support UK brass bands this festive season following the Covid-19 pandemic, as well as providing a chance for more people to enjoy brass bands this Christmas. #BrassBandsAtChristmas
Old Silkstone Band are asking for donations to buy a new outdoor storage facility for our equipment and also the repairs to instruments. Our current storage container is in a state of disrepair and unfortunately this means the instruments and other equipment in the storage facility are starting to get damage from water etc
As we don't own our own band room there is no other space for us to store the equipment from the storage container due to it being a shared space with many other community groups.
Although the band were lucky enough to be able to do some concerts throughout the Summer, this money went towards the running costs of the band and there has been no spare money to be used towards either repairing the storage facility or buying a new one.
We are going to be out from the end of November and throughout December playing Christmas Carols and entertaining you, the public - and you continue to donate generously to show your appreciation for our efforts, despite your own hardships.
About Old Silkstone Band Established in 1861, Old Silkstone Band has been providing music within the Parish of Silkstone for nearly 160 years and is at the heart of the local community. Our aim is to maintain the traditions of brass band music by promoting musicianship and provide opportunities for all ages and abilities to engage with the band to further develop their musical talents through performance within the community and beyond. We are a ‘not for profit’, self funded band and we look forward to providing music for many more years to come.
