🎭 Support Laurels Theatre – Our First Ever Crowdfunding Campaign! 🎭
For the first time, Laurels Theatre is launching a crowdfunding campaign—and we need your support!
Since taking over an old social club on Whitley Road four years ago, we’ve transformed it into a thriving hub for independent theatre. We’ve proudly supported hundreds of artists, staged countless productions, and welcomed thousands of visitors through our doors. We’ve even been nominated for North East Cultural Venue of the Year two years running—all without any external funding!
All of our funds go back into developing the work that goes on our stage and taking risks on new artists who are local to the North East. The arts is a funny old beast which is incredibly expensive to sustain and our wee operation in Whitley Bay is no different.
Why We Need Your Support
With arts budgets being slashed, it’s getting harder to keep going. We remain the last Fringe Theatre and producing house in North Tyneside, and we’re determined to continue championing artists—especially those from lower socio-economic backgrounds—while expanding our community outreach, improving accessibility, and enhancing the theatre-going experience.
Now, with our newly granted charitable status, we’re finally opening the door and asking our incredible community of supporters to help us secure the future of Laurels Theatre. Like all arts venues, we rely on ticket sales—but donations make all the difference.
If you can, please donate to our campaign. Every contribution, big or small, goes directly into supporting artists, productions, and keeping independent theatre alive in the North East.
Thank you for standing with us—your support means everything. 🎟💙

OUR CROWDFUNDER GOALS
Every donation will go directly towards funding the arts, supporting the theatre, and nurturing artist development. We’re committed to expanding our community outreach, creating more opportunities across the region while strengthening our existing initiatives—like Play and a Pasty, as well as our writing and acting groups.
We also want to enhance the theatre-going experience by making improvements to accessibility, as well as upgrading our heating and air conditioning, ensuring a more comfortable space for everyone.
